I have tried a lot of proxy management tools over the years, and SwitchyOmega is the one I keep coming back to. It is lightweight, open-source, and does exactly what I need: route specific websites through a proxy while leaving everything else alone.
If you are a developer scraping Indian e-commerce sites, running ad verification, or managing multiple social accounts, you do not want your entire browser traffic going through a proxy. You just want the target domains routed through Snowpad's Indian mobile IPs. SwitchyOmega makes this trivial.
Installing SwitchyOmega
Head to the Chrome Web Store and search for "SwitchyOmega" by Falco. It is free and open-source with over a million users. One click installs it, and you will see a circular icon appear in your toolbar.
Creating a SOCKS5 Profile
Click the SwitchyOmega icon and go to Options. Under Profiles, click New Profile. Name it something like "Snowpad SOCKS5" and select SOCKS5 as the protocol.
Fill in the details:
- Server:
gw.snowpad.io - Port:
9999 - SOCKS version: SOCKS5
- Username/Password: Your Snowpad credentials
Click Save. That is it. You now have a working SOCKS5 proxy profile.
Auto-Switch Mode
This is where SwitchyOmega shines. Instead of manually toggling the proxy on and off, use Auto Switch Mode. You define rules: "if the URL matches this pattern, use the Snowpad proxy; otherwise, go direct."
Go to SwitchyOmega Options → Auto Switch Mode. Add rules like:
*.amazon.in→ Snowpad SOCKS5*.flipkart.com→ Snowpad SOCKS5*.linkedin.com→ Snowpad SOCKS5- Default → Direct Connection
Now when you browse normally, everything goes direct. The moment you visit a target site, SwitchyOmega automatically routes through Snowpad. No manual toggling, no accidental proxy leaks.
Quick Switching
The toolbar icon shows your current mode. Click it to switch between:
- Direct Connection — no proxy
- Snowpad SOCKS5 — all traffic through proxy
- Auto Switch — rule-based routing

Why SwitchyOmega?
Unlike Chrome's native proxy settings (which are tied to system preferences), SwitchyOmega operates at the extension level. This means:
- Per-site routing without affecting system-wide settings
- Instant switching without opening settings panels
- Profile export/import for team setups
- No CLI flags needed
If you prefer a different extension, FoxyProxy is a solid alternative with similar functionality.
Final Thoughts
SwitchyOmega is the first tool I install on any new Chrome profile. Combined with Snowpad's SOCKS5 proxy at gw.snowpad.io:9999, it gives me precise control over which traffic goes through Indian mobile IPs and which stays direct. No bloat, no configuration headaches — just clean, rule-based proxy routing.
